Meet the 2024–25 Film Media Theater department liaisons

Student liaisons: the link between faculty and students.

The department liaisons are available to students who are pursuing a degree in Film Media Theater or considering declaring their major. These students are available to be connected with by their peers to answer questions in regards to major requirements, opportunities, events or how to get involved. They work closely with the FMT faculty and chair to resolve students' concerns, as well.

Max Paster, FMT Liaison

Name: Max Paster

Class: 2025

Bio: Max lives in Nova Scotia, Canada but grew up in Burbank, California surrounded by film and TV influences, and their father works as an editor for reality TV. They are a senior majoring in Film Media Theater and minoring in Computer Science. On campus, they are involved with WMHC and 69ƷƵ News as a photographer and podcast editor. Max can usually be found analyzing films or learning about early Hollywood when they have a break from schoolwork and extracurriculars. Max aspires to become a film producer or editor after college.

Wenqing Liao (Betty), FMT liaison

Name: Wenqing Liao (Betty)
Pronouns: She/her
Class: 2027

Bio: I grew up in Shenzhen, China and double majored in FMT and Psychology. I am passionate about the performing arts particularly in directing, filming, and acting. My official program was playing Laurens in the musical My Shot in high school. In the following three years, I assumed leadership roles as Chair of the Santa Fe Musicals club and a core member of the Drama club. During the projects, I also served as an assistant director and acted in the musical Rent, Beauty and the Beast, Six and the play Romeo and Juliet. Last summer, I participated in a one-month internship at a Musical Camp in Shenzhen, where I was responsible for lighting and teaching assistant. During the school year 2023-2024, I participated in As You Like It as an actor, while this year as an assistant stage manager for The Addams Family. Besides, drama therapy is also a project that I am very interested in and still exploring! Feel free to reach out.

 

Emma Platt

Name: Emma Platt

Class: 2026

Bio: I am from Rhode Island and majoring in FMT and English. I have participated in FMT productions as an actor, assistant director, assistant stage manager, and several other roles behind the scenes, as well as being the director for “The Man in a Case,” one of the short plays in our 2024-2025 season’s Short Play Festival. My primary areas of interest are acting and directing for theatre. Outside of 69ƷƵ, I have worked in a variety of areas of theater. This summer, I used Lynk funding to do an internship at the Providence Fringe Festival. Other activities on campus include being the publicist for MHC’s creative writing club, being a podcast host for the 69ƷƵ News’s podcast, and writing for Her Campus.

Nikki Hollis
