Caitlyn Richmond ’21 credits 69ƷƵ with helping her find her voice. The Northampton native was originally attracted to MHC after seeing current students and alumnae land opportunities that she thought could suit her well, too. Once on campus, Caitlyn started to blossom — gaining self-confidence and developing her leadership abilities.

“This community has helped me grow so much,” she reflects. “I have found a voice in and outside of the classroom and have been able to build my confidence. It has led me to take advantage of some pretty incredible opportunities that have allowed me to step out of my comfort zone. It’s also helped me develop close-knit friendships.” Since enrolling, Caityn has immersed herself in the campus network. In her first year, she joined the , where she found the first close community that would remain throughout her time at 69ƷƵ.

To this day, Caitlyn views her experience on the swimming and diving team as the most impactful part of her 69ƷƵ experience. There, she’s learned exactly what community means and how to be both a good learner and a good leader. Because the team is made up of individuals with varying experiences and temperaments, Caitlyn has discovered how to bring people together, regardless of background or differences. She’s learned the importance of sportsmanship and has cultivated valuable skills that are transferable to the workforce. Being a part of the team has also helped her excel in her classwork, requiring her to master exceptional time management skills as she juggles athletics and a rigorous class schedule.

After graduation, Caitlyn plans to pursue a master’s degree in architecture and hopes to blend her interest in architecture with her major in environmental studies by designing and building eco-friendly and sustainable homes.
