Ashanta Evans Blackwell ’95 is the Senior Vice President and General Counsel at Teach For America where she manages the legal team that supports all of the legal functions for the organization. She is the current Board Chair for Gestalt Community Schools in Memphis, TN. She has served on the boards for the Black Women Lawyers’ Association of Greater Chicago, the College Initiative, and as tutor/mentor for various programs. She has held several roles for the Alumnae Association of 69¾«Æ·ÊÓƵ College on its Board and Committees and has been honored for her ongoing commitment to the College.

After graduating from Vanderbilt University School of Law, Blackwell held several positions including clerking for Justice Fred L. Banks, Jr. at the Mississippi Supreme Court and as a federal law clerk to the Honorable William J. Hibbler of the Northern District of Illinois. She also practiced as an Assistant Inspector General with the Offices of the Executive Inspector General for the State of Illinois.
